We are a crisp packet Recycling Centre!
Here at The Berkeley Arms sustainability, locality and the wellbeing of our planet play a key role in everything we do, we are trying our hardest to eliminate all single use plastics and although we cannot do a great deal we are strong believers that every little helps!
We have been looking for our next project to help our environment and involve our community in the process so... we have become a crisp recycling centre!
At the moment the packaging used is the best way to keep them fresh... but not yet recyclable! Walkers are aiming to make all their packaging recyclable, compostable or biodegradable by 2025... a fair way off.
So in the meantime TerraCycle, the global leaders in recycling the 'non-recyclable' have taken on the mammoth task and have partnered with individuals collectors (such as us) and so far across 20 countries they have been able to divert millions of pounds of waste from landfills and incinerators each month. Not only do they recycle the 'non-recyclable' but for every 2kg of waste we send them they will donate £2 to our chosen charity! So the more crisp packets we recycle, the more we help our environment and the more money we earn for our chosen charity, St. Wilfrid's Hospice... its a win win!

Where, What & How
It's easy, just bring all your crisp packets (and the bags they come in!) to The Berkeley Arms. Please do not fold the packets into triangles.
We'll weigh them up and send them off, TerraCycle then cleans them up and shreds them into plastic pellets, those pellets are then transformed into park benches, plant pots, watering cans and snazzy handbags! Finally they will then send a cheque to our chosen charity!
What they can't recycle:
Even TerraCycle have their limits, they cannot accept: popcorn bags, pretzel bags, crisp tubes (like pringles) and meat snacks bags (like pork scratchings)
